Lenovo unveiled the Legion Go S, a brand-new portable PC using Valve’s top operating system, at CES 2025. Along with an 8-inch screen with variable refresh rate (VRR), Hall effect joysticks, customizable trigger switches, and other enticing features not present in other Steam Deck model, the Go S comes with SteamOS pre-installed.

Lenovo claims that the Go 2 will eventually have some significant upgrades over its previous portable gaming devices. An 8.8-inch OLED display, the same size as the 2023 original Go, will replace the 8-inch LCD panel seen on the Go S systems. The device’s shell will also have a new finish, and its battery will be larger than that of the original Go.

With hardware specifications that match or surpass those of the Asus ROG Ally and other potent handhelds, the Legion GO S with SteamOS will go on sale in May for $499.99. Its base pricing includes the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme CPU and a 1,920 x 1,200 LCD display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and VRR compatibility, which prevents screen tearing by synchronizing the refresh rate with the frame rate. It will have a headphone connector, two USB4 Type-C ports (with a charging speed of up to 65 W), a microSD card slot, and compatibility for M.2 PCIe 2242 or 2280-size SSDs for extra storage. When playing demanding, heavy games, Lenovo aims for two to 2.5 hours of battery life, supposing the rest of the device doesn’t use up any more power. In certain countries, versions with AMD’s current Z1 Extreme CPU will also be offered. Full-length M.2 2280 solid state drives are compatible with all Legion Go S.
